Well, we are officially trying to move in the next three weeks. however--there is only 1 problem--we don't have anywhere to go! So, it has been a mad scramble to get money for supplies to build mud buildings in the interim.
So, we kind of have the money. I am getting pretty good at convincing people to give us stuff and $$. I have faith that we will find the money somewhere. However, we have to have all of our stuff out of the current space in 3 weeks. This means that my house is going to turn into an interim center, and will be stocked full of work stuff until the huts are finished. It also means that all of our programming will be abruptly halted (except feeding) until the move is complete.
In March or something our actual, new center should be finished. This has been donated by a place in Durban.
All this is very exciting, but also very stressful at the same time.
Also, for some reason a random church has taken up space in our center without our permission (??) but with the OK of the chief. They will be here for 3 weeks or something, so we also have to work around that. Ooooh South Africa, what a crazy place you are.
In other developments, I just found out that the application I wrote for Dell Computers went through! In a couple of months we will be getting 10, brand new, computers! I am too excited! I am going to try and spearhead a computer training course for first, the employees here, and second, the community--so when I leave people will have the skills to carry on. This is a perfect South African moment, poverty and wealth together--imagine, a computer lab of 10 computers in a mud building. hilarious! if that isn't a mixing of 1st/3rd worlds, I don't know what is.
