crazy days

Quote from one of my 6 year old host sister's favorite programs, WWE Wrestling (very popular here--a great way to see what america is like!) "And I’m gonna knock out 10 of them and will leave Batista (a wrestler) in worse shape than the US Economy!" Haha, sooo good.

so, today it was confirmed--my organization is officially being evicted from the building that we are currently occupying. we are currently renting a compound of buildings from the family of the chief of our village. A couple of weeks ago we got a letter from the chief that said that we had to vacate by January 1st because they need to use it now. No one is really sure for what...

So, the plan of action is to build mud huts on the new land that we can transfer the cooking and offices to, so we can stay open in the meantime. What pisses me off is that there is a chance that all of this might not work out—and that the services of our center will have to stop for 3-4 months! This means no feeding of 150 children every day, no taking care of 200 sick people in our village, no feeding of 25 families whose bread-winners are suffering from HIV/AIDS. No promotion of staying safe from HIV and taking your care of yourself…Ughhhh….

I promise to keep you updated.

In other news,

Today I finished the grant I have been working on for what seems like forever. It is for about 200,000 dollars—so keep your fingers crossed! Nozipho and I have been working our butts off, so hopefully, not for nothing.

My youth club continues to go awesomely. However, because of my grant writing responsibilities, as well as other programs I am overseeing, I have had to miss some days. However, my coworkers are amazing and totally have it covered. It is just is so fun that I never want to miss a day. I will try to post pictures later this week.

Here are some links you all may enjoy:

Bicycling magazine article on the building event in our village—and a picture of me building bikes!

Alright, I had a good day with Nozipho. It is pouring outside (again...3 days running, thank goodness).
